LSU football lands Mansoor Delane from transfer portal. How former Virginia Tech CB fits

BATON ROUGE – LSU football earned a commitment from Mansoor Delane out of the transfer portal Monday afternoon.

The former Virginia Tech cornerback will be signing with the Tigers, a source within the football program confirmed to The Daily Advertiser.

Delane is ranked the No. 36 overall player in the transfer portal and currently the second-highest rated cornerback.

The 6-foot-1, 187-pounder played three seasons for the Hokies and was a multi-year starter. He recorded 146 tackles, 16 passes defended, six interceptions and four forced fumbles.

Delane was one season of eligibility left.

How Mansoor Delane will fit with LSU football’s roster

More much-needed experience at the cornerback position is on the way for LSU. Delane, who played three seasons in Blacksburg and totaled 146 tackles, six interceptions and 16 pass defended, was another main target for the Tigers in the transfer portal. Delane was a former three-star recruit of the high school.

Building depth was going to key for LSU this transfer portal window cycle and the addition of Delane allows cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond to attempt to build depth with guys he already has in the fold.
