South Carolina football commitment named finalist for big-time award
South Carolina football commitment Keenan Britt is racking up the postseason accolades.
Earlier this month, the Oxford High School (Oxford, Alabama) standout received All-Region honors in a competitive level of high school ball in the Yellow Hammer State. His Oxford team also won a region title and lost just one game to the eventual state champs. Now, he is a finalist for the Alabama Sports Writers Association 6A Lineman of the Year.
USC quarterback target and former commitment Landon Duckworth also is a finalist for the ASWA 4A Back of the Year. Both Britt and Duckworth will be honored as finalists during a ceremony in January, and the winner will be announced then, as well.

Britt lines up as a defensive end more often than not for his Oxford squad. However, he also gets some snaps inside at tackle and has a little experience playing multiple linebacker spots.

This fall, Britt finished the year with 121 total tackles. That is a remarkable number for a player who spends most of his time on the defensive line. He is an impressive athlete who has a knack for finding the football. As a pass rusher, he can win with speed or power, but he also does a good job of getting his hands on the football, either to knock the ball down out of the air or to knock it away from ball carriers.
Though he plays all over in high school and On3 rates him as an EDGE, Britt will be a Gamecock linebacker. Though his hand was in the dirt a lot at Oxford, he does “linebacker things” well; he operates smoothly in space, he reduces toward the football when unblocked, he keeps his head up in search of the football, and he reads linemen. The versatile defender plays fast and with emotion. In other words, he looks like a South Carolina linebacker in Clayton White’s system.

On3’s industry ranking lists Britt as a 4-star prospect in the class of 2026. 247Sports and Rivals rank him as a linebacker, while On3 and ESPN consider him an EDGE recruit. Overall, he is the No. 316 player in the industry ranking. He also is the No. 12 prospect in Alabama and No. 31 nationally among EDGE evaluations.
Britt is one of six pledges in the 2026 South Carolina football recruiting class. The Gamecocks have put together the 9th-best commit list in the country in the ’26 cycle. Britt is joined in the class by fellow 4-star prospects J’Zavien Currence, Rodney Colton, and Jamel Howse and 3-star recruits Peyton Dyer and Anthony Baxter. Colton, like Britt, is a USC linebacker commitment.
