Ohio State Assistant Coach May Leave for Oklahoma After Title Game
The Ohio State football team is focusing all of its energy on winning one more game. If they are able to beat Notre Dame on Monday, they will be national champions. Any problem after that is secondary. Ohio State will gladly take any problems that crop up if they win.
If they lose, any issue that pops up would be a lot harder for this team to swallow. The Buckeyes have a few things that could happen following this game. Ryan Day could decide to leave the Ohio State Buckeyes on his own to pursue a job in the NFL. That’s not the most pressing issue, though.
In all likelihood, the Buckeyes will have Day back next year, no matter the outcome of the game on Monday. There is a bigger risk that the Buckeyes might have to replace one of their most valuable assistants because he might head to Oklahoma for the same job.
The Ohio State football team could lose Jim Knowles after National Championship Game
There is a rumor floating around that Knowles could consider going to Oklahoma to take their defensive coordinator job. He was hired as the DC at Ohio State after being the DC at Oklahoma State, so he would be going back there in this scenario.
Knowles was asked about it during media availability, and Buckeye fans won’t love his answer.
“Notre Dame. That’s all I’m focused on. You are right, these things happen, I guess, when you have success. And players are making plays, and my job is to put them in the best position. But, everybody, these things come up when you do well.”
He more or less sidestepped the question, which is not what you want to see if you’re a Buckeye fan. You would’ve liked to have seen him just shoot the rumors down immediately. Instead, he played it like a politician.
The National Championship Game is all that matters right now. Anything that happens after that can be done in the afterglow of a victory.
