Legendary QB Warned Against Signing With Raiders

After three straight losing seasons, the Las Vegas Raiders could finally be headed in the right direction with Pete Carroll taking over as head coach. However, whether or not the Raiders can be a playoff team in 2025 will depend on who’s playing quarterback. Russell Wilson seems like the obvious fit due to his experience with Carroll, but there’s another veteran quarterback being linked to the team. Aaron Rodgers is unlikely to return to the New York Jets next season and may not be ready to retire.

He had a down year by his standards, he still threw for 28 touchdowns and started 17 games. He’d be an upgrade over what the Raiders had. If Rodgers’ price was cheap, he could make some sense for Las Vegas but it might not make much sense for him. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk cautioned the quarterback against going to the Raiders. “Rodgers will want to play for a potential postseason team,” Florio wrote. “The Titans will have a much easier path. The Steelers will have a tougher road than Tennessee but easier than Las Vegas. Even the Saints would give him a better chance to get to the postseason and, given the fact that he wouldn’t have to face Mahomes or Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow in the postseason, a better chance to win a January game or two. “In the end, Rodgers might decide to call it quits. However, it’s hard to think any all-time great would want the final chapter of his story to be the last two years in New York.” Rodgers may not have many options so if he wants to play, the Raiders could be one of the only teams interested in him.
