Ohio State’s Quarterback Race Just Got Interesting

The Ohio State Buckeyes’ spring Game was on April 12, which further intensified the starting quarterback battle. Lincoln Kienholz was given the start after his performance in the practice earlier this month. He completed 12 out of 18 for 158 yards, including 2 touchdowns.

But the spotlight for this game was on Julian Sayin, who connected 16 out of 24, registering 175 yards and 1 touchdown, giving the Scarlet team(offense) a win over team Gray(defense) with a scoreline of 50-31.

Tavien St. Clair, who Ryan Day felt has a long way to go, completed 11 out of 15, tallying 116 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Lincoln settled down after the first drive or so,” Head coach Ryan Day said. “Made some nice throws, but I thought Julian for the most part, early on, was in rhythm and moved the team down the field for a couple touchdowns, which was good.

We’ll use this as another evaluation tool,” Day added. “Right from the jump, from when we got off the bus to when we just finished there, I’m glad we did this. I’m glad we did the spring game. I wasn’t sure, but it was definitely the right thing to do. I wish we could have stayed out there for another four hours and have these reps and get these guys to work.”

The QB1 battle for this season of the Buckeyes could fall to anybody from the trio, but Sayin and Kienholz seem to be the front runners as of now, which is quite different from Spring practice, where Kienholz was deemed the next QB1.
