Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame working to flip 5-star Ohio State commit

The Notre Dame football team has seen quite the turnaround in its recruiting efforts of late. There was a time when people were wondering if something was rotten in the state of Denmark (or the city of South Bend). However, a recent hot streak that included 4-star wide receiver Bubba Frazier has fans thinking differently these days. The hot streak also has head coach Marcus Freeman increasing his push.

Fresh off getting the Fighting Irish back into the Top 5 classes on most recruiting services, Freeman is now aiming at a 5-star receiver who just happens to be committed to another school. Could the Golden Domers really pull Jamier Brown away from Ohio State?

The Notre Dame football team is giving it a go. In fact, it took a step in that direction when it hosted Brown on an unofficial visit on Thursday. Now it’s about pushing forward and making Brown realize that South Bend is the better fit for him than Columbus.

Could Notre Dame football really flip this 5-star from Ohio State?

According to On3’s Industry Rankings, Brown is the top player in the state of Ohio and the top Athlete in the 2027 class. He’s the No. 4 player overall. And should they manage to get him to flip, it would be a massive coup.

His visit this week wasn’t the first time he saw what Notre Dame had to offer. He also paid a visit back in September and he’s been taking some trips since then. Just a few days before checking out the Fighting Irish, he took an unofficial to Texas.

Certainly, it seems as if the Notre Dame football team has a chance to pull him away from the Buckeyes. The fact that he can’t sign on the dotted line for another year and a half helps. Freeman and his group have plenty of time to get him to make the switch. Maybe another trip to the playoffs can help that along.
