The Ohio State football program lost a lot of talent from its national championship team. While they still have a lot of talent on the roster, they don’t feel completely comfortable where they are at now that Spring practice has wrapped up. They need some help.

Defensive line is where they need the most help. After the entire starting defensive line heads to the NFL, the Buckeyes have to figure out some guys who can step up and play the way that Matt Patricia wants them to play. What we saw during the Spring Game was not good enough.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have reached out to several players who play on the defensive line in the Spring transfer portal. One of them will be making a visit on Monday. Ohio State has another player they reached out to from the ACC. That player, Maraad Watson, is considering the Buckeyes as one of his final schools.

Watson, a defensive lineman from Syracuse, has whittled down his transfer list to four schools. Besides the Buckeyes, he is considering Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia. Those are all big boys when it comes to the world of college football, so it won’t be easy for Ohio State to get him.

Watson is transferring from Syracuse after just one year with the Orange. In that one year, he had 30 tackles and a sack. He was active in stopping the run up the middle, which is something the Buckeyes need help doing. They need a defensive tackle like him.

There are other players that Ohio State has reached out to along the defensive line. That is clearly the biggest need in the transfer portal. Surprisingly, they haven’t had many players leave their roster into the portal, either.
