BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee’s Hunter Ensley and Paige Reymann have been nominated for the Southeastern Conference’s H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
The H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Post-Graduate Scholarship has been presented by the SEC since 1986 to the league’s top male and female scholar-athletes.
Hunter Ensley – Baseball
A steady leader and fierce competitor, Hunter Ensley has made an indelible mark on Tennessee baseball—balancing academic success with championship-level play while serving as a cornerstone of the Vols’ rise to national prominence.
Ensley earned his bachelor’s degree in recreation and sport management in the summer of 2024, finishing with a 3.23 undergraduate GPA. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication, where he holds a 3.67 GPA. His dedication to academics has been recognized with multiple awards from the league office, including selections to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2022, 2023 and 2024, as well as the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in 2020-21.
On the diamond, Ensley has been an instrumental cog in one of the most successful eras in Tennessee baseball history. A three-time Men’s College World Series participant, he helped lead the Vols to their first-ever national championship in 2024. His leadership has also played a key role in securing four SEC titles—sweeping both the regular-season and tournament crowns in 2022 and 2024.
A team captain and a mainstay in center field, Ensley has appeared in 177 games with 146 starts, posting a career .299 batting average with 117 runs scored, 36 doubles, 25 home runs, and 121 RBIs. His outstanding play and leadership earned him a spot on the 2025 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List, and he made the decision to return for one more season on Rocky Top, continuing to anchor the Vols both on and off the field.
Paige Reymann – Rowing
During her standout career on Rocky Top, Paige Reymann has emerged as a cornerstone of Tennessee rowing—excelling on the water and in the classroom, while representing UT on the national stage.
A consistent academic high-achiever, Reymann currently holds a stellar 3.84 cumulative undergraduate GPA, has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in both 2023 and 2024 and earned a spot on the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2022. She is also a two-time Big 12 Academic All-Conference First Team honoree and was recognized as a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete in 2023. A proud member of the prestigious VOLeaders Academy Class of 2023-24, Reymann exemplifies the program’s commitment to leadership and service.
On the water, the 2024 season saw Reymann help power Tennessee’s second varsity eight boat to a remarkable 42-6 spring record. Her efforts were instrumental in the crew’s historic third-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Championships Grand Final, clocking a time of 6:22.830—the best NCAA finish ever for a Lady Vol 2V8+ boat. She was also a key contributor to silver-medal performances at the Big 12 Championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Reymann helped her boat earn Big 12 Boat of the Week honors twice in 2024—March 22 and April 26. With her tireless dedication, Reymann continues to elevate the standard for Tennessee rowing on the water and in the classroom.
The SEC provides the league’s male and female McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of the Year Post-Graduate Scholarship recipients with a $20,000 post-graduate scholarship. The 30 remaining male and female finalists for the award will also receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship.
The award recipients are chosen by a committee of Faculty Athletics Representatives from the 16 SEC institutions and are announced in April, as well as honored by the league membership in late May at SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Florida.
