Emeka Egbuka’s Ohio State quote after getting drafted will give you chills

On Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off quite the move, selecting Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka with the No. 19 overall pick. Egbuka is joining a loaded Bucs’ wide receivers room and he’s going to make the move to Florida ready to be an impact player.

Think the pressure of being a first-rounder is going to be too much for him? Not a chance. Egbuka joins a long list of Ohio State wideouts who heard their names called early in the NFL Draft. He’s also taking his OSU mentality with him to the pros, which is great news for Tampa Bay and rough news for the rest of the NFC South:

Anyone else ready to run through a wall after seeing that clip? Egbuka played the game the right way for Ryan Day and he was a joy to watch throughout his career with the Buckeyes. Last season, a ton of focus went to Jeremiah Smith and rightfully so.

However, Egbuka played a MASSIVE role in Ohio State going on its dream run. In 2024, the former 5-star receiver from the 2021 class hauled in 81 receptions for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was a true superstar and his career ended in style with the Buckeyes winning the natty.

The 6-1, 200-pounder has wasted no time winning over a lot of Bucs fans because of his mentality, which is awesome to see. Soon enough, he’ll take the field for Tampa Bay and work to build a lot of chemistry with veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Egbuka has all the tools needed to be a stud wideout early on. He’s fast, has reliable hands and plays the game with a humble side too. While a lot of Ohio State supporters are fired up over the Steelers bringing in Jack Sawyer and Will Howard, plenty of people will be following Egbuka closely with the Bucs moving forward too.
