Oklahoma softball stars sweep Texas then walk away with weekly SEC honors
Oklahoma’s thrilling series sweep of then-No. 3 Texas last weekend is still delivering dividends.
Two Oklahoma players — junior second baseman Ailana Agbayani and freshman third baseman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas — earned SEC softball honors this week.
Agbayani was the SEC Softball Player of the Week and McEnroe-Marinas was named Co-Freshman of the Week in the conference. Agbayani also was honored by Softball America as a Star of the Week.

Agbayani, who transferred to OU before this season from BYU, had six hits in eight plate appearances in the Texas series for a .750 batting average. Among her six hits were two doubles and a grand-slam home run. She scored three runs and drove in five, and ended the series with a 1.375 slugging percentage. Her grand slam was a key factor in the Sooners’ 7-6 win in the series opener with Texas. It was just the fourth home run of her collegiate career.
The OU junior is batting .339 for the season with 28 runs scored and 30 runs batted in. Additionally, she has committed just one error in 136 fielding chances.
McEnroe-Marinas batted .556 in the three games with Texas. She collected her 11th home run of the season in conference play, a league best, and scored six runs in the series, including the game-winning run in two of the games. She has homered once in all but one SEC series this season. For the season, McEnroe-Marinas is hitting .362 with 14 home runs.
McEnroe-Marinas shared the freshman award with Ella McDowell, an infielder for Arkansas.
This is the first SEC softball honor for both Agbayani and McEnroe-Marinas, and the eighth weekly award for Oklahoma this season.
