Tennessee Football’s “Checker Neyland” game this season will be against Georgia on September 13 in the SEC opener. The Vols announced game designations for the 2025 season on Wednesday morning.
The Georgia weekend will also be the John Henderson Hall of Fame Salute weekend, celebrating the former Tennessee defensive lineman’s induction into the College Football hall of Fame in the 2025 class.
Champions Weekend will be October 11 against Arkansas, Homecoming and Salute to Service will be against New Mexico State on November 15 and Senior Day will be against Vanderbilt in the regular-season finale on November 29.

Tennessee vs. Syracuse: Saturday, August 30, Noon ET, ABC
The season-opener is set for August 30 against Syracuse at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta in the Aflac Kickoff Game. It was announced on Tuesday that the game will be a Noon Eastern Time start and will be televised by ABC.
Kickoff times and TV information for the first three week’s of ESPN’s college football schedule will be released on May 29.
The Vols are 3-0 against Syracuse, winning 18-12 in the 1966 Gator Bowl, 34-33 at Syracuse in September 1998 and 33-9 at Neyland Stadium in September 2001.
Josh Heupel and Tennessee players will be in Atlanta in July to unofficially start the new season at SEC Football Kickoff Media Days.

Tennessee goes to Mississippi State on September 27 in the first road SEC game of the season, plays at Alabama on October 18 and goes to Florida on November 22.
After the Arkansas game on October 11, the Vols go back on the road to Kentucky on October 25. The two bye weeks are scheduled for October 4 and November 8.
Tennessee is a 12.5-point favorite against Syracuse. The Vols were a 13.5-point favorite when the line was initially released in January.
The updated win total for Tennessee this season is set at 8.5, according to odds from FanDuel. The total for the Vols was previously 9.5, before losing Nico Iamaleava to the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Over 8.5 wins is -122 in the new odds while under 8.5 wins is +100. Tennessee also went from the eighth best odds to win a national championship, at +1800, to 12th, at +3000.
