
Memphis women’s basketball has hired former Florida A&M coach Shalon Pillow as chief of staff.
Pillow, who played for Pat Summitt at Tennessee, also was an assistant coach at Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State.
“With the addition of Shalon, our staff just got better. She has a plethora of experience at all levels and knowledge that will lead our program in the right direction,” coach Alex Simmons said in a school release on June 6. “She comes with an undeniable passion for women’s basketball and will be a great mentor and leader for our coaching staff.”
Pillow was coach at FAMU from 2021-23, where she went 9-48 overall. For the past two seasons, she has been the varsity girls basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, Florida.
Prior to her tenure at FAMU, she was an assistant coach on Rick Insell’s staff at MTSU from 2014-20. She was an assistant at Kentucky from 2009-14.
