Departed Parramatta Eels duo Dan Keir and Wiremu Greig sign for different teams…

Two former Parramatta Eels forwards, Dan Keir and Wiremu Greig, have officially signed new contracts that will see them continue their rugby league careers beyond 2025.

After being one of eight players farewelled by Parramatta in September, Wiremu Greig has inked a one-year deal with the Townsville Blackhawks in the Queensland Cup for the 2025 season.

Greig, who began his career at the North Queensland Cowboys before joining the Eels in 2021 played 27 NRL games for the blue and gold.

However, his time in Sydney was hampered by several injuries, including a season-ending Lisfranc injury in 2023 and a rib issue that limited his appearances this year

Despite those setbacks, Greig’s size, work rate, and experience made him a valuable pickup for Townsville as he looks to reignite his NRL ambitions through the state competition.

Meanwhile, development forward Dan Keir has signed a NSWRL contract with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, as reported by Zero Tackle.

The 27-year-old, capable of playing back row or lock made seven NRL appearances across two seasons for Parramatta but featured predominantly in the NSW Cup.

Keir impressed statistically in 2024, averaging 74 running metres, 567 tackles, five line breaks, and three tries in reserve grade
