Arsenal transfer news: Tune into today’s liveblog for all the latest Gunners transfer rumours and gossip, including updates on Ousmane Dembele, Romeo Lavia and Folarin Balogun plus lots more
Arsenal were one of the busiest teams in the Premier League during the first few weeks of the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta’s side bolstered their midfield and defence, spending over £200million to recruit Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber. Considering the £21.5million they received for Granit Xhaka is the only substantial fee the Gunners have received this summer, they are now focused on selling several squad players as Arteta looks to find the perfect balance to his currently bloated squad.
Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun have both been linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, as has Thomas Partey. However, the Ghana international is now seeming more likely to stay put.
Arteta’s have been linked with Partey’s international teammate Mohammed Kudus, although Chelsea are also interested, in the Ajax playmaker. Elsewhere, it looks unlikely Romeo Lavia will be joining from Southampton, with the Belgian reportedly close to signing for Liverpool.
With that said, keep the blog on lock as we bring you the latest Arsenal transfer news LIVE from Emirates Stadium with regular updates throughout the day!
Arsenal in action
Arsenal are set to face Boreham Wood in a friendly this afternoon. A club statement read: “A host of our youngsters will be in action at Meadow Park on Saturday, July 29 as they take on National League side Boreham Wood in a 3pm kick-off.
“In recent years, the home of The Wood has been the regular ‘home’ venue for our academy sides, so will be a familiar venue to those looking to catch the eye on the weekend.
“The pre-season friendly against Boreham Wood, who finished sixth in the National League last season to reach the play-offs, has become a traditional part of our preparations for the new campaign and is a great opportunity for supporters to watch some early summer football ahead of the new season.
“Mehmet Ali will take charge of the side which will consist of a collection of our under-21 and under-18 players looking to build match sharpness ahead of the new campaign.”
Man City make major transfer decision impacting Arsenal to gift Pep Guardiola £26m windfall
Manchester City have confirmed the departure of Riyad Mahrez who has completed a summer transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli. The 32-year-old spent half a decade playing under Pep Guardiola but has now chosen to move on following Man City’s treble-winning season.
Guardiola has endured a quiet summer at Etihad Stadium this far with Mateo Kovacic as the only marquee purchase made as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan who joined Barcelona. Mahrez departing signals another squad overhaul could be coming with Kyle Walker also closing in on a transfer to Bayern Munich and Bernardo Silva linked with an exit.
Arsenal faced competition for Declan Rice with Man City earlier this summer but after pulling out of the race, they swiftly turned their attention to RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol. An agreement appeared in place but some complications emerged which placed the transfer on hold with it now entirely possible it collapses.
Mahrez’s exit is sure to impact the Gunners as he frequently contributed to the eight successive defeats the north Londoners have endured against City in the last three years. In the most recent seven fixtures against Arsenal, Mahrez has provided four goal contributions.
How Ousmane Dembele to PSG transfer will have major impact on Arsenal plans
Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele looks set to complete a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, according to recent reports.
French outlet RMC Sport have claimed that PSG are set to activate Dembele’s release clause, which is said to stand at just €50million (£43million), a price that will double if not activated before the end of July. The 26-year-old’s imminent move to the Parc des Princes comes as a surprise to many and could even impact Arsenal ‘s transfer plans.

Thomas Partey Arsenal transfer latest: Mikel Arteta U-turn, Saudi move, price tag revealed
Thomas Partey has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old endured a difficult end to the 2022/23 campaign, falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta after some inconsistent form during the Gunners’ Premier League title race. Since then, Arteta has recruited Declan Rice to the north London club, leaving Partey’s future in doubt as reports have suggested that both Saudi Arabian sides and Juventus are interested in signing the Ghana international.
So with all of that being said, football.london has now rounded up all the latest transfer chatter involving the veteran midfielder below.
How Arsenal and Chelsea have boosted Man Utd’s transfer budget following Erik ten Hag meeting
Arsenal and Chelsea have inadvertently boosted Manchester United’s summer transfer budget according to recent reports.
The Gunners have splashed in excess of £200million to sign Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber this summer as Mikel Arteta’s side look to bridge the gap on Premier League champions Manchester City. Meanwhile, the Blues have spent a little over £100million to recruit Angelo Gabriel, Kendry Paez, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson amongst others.
That kind of outlay resulted in United boosting Erik ten Hag’s transfer kitty for the summer window, according to De Telegraaf journalist Marcel van der Kraan. Speaking about the Red Devils’ pursuit of Atalanta frontman Rasmus Hojlund, Van der Kraan told Sky Sports: “There’s been a lack of financial support in the way of, ‘can Manchester United raise enough cash to give in to the demands of Atalanta?’
“At the beginning of the summer, the budget wasn’t clear. In the middle of the summer, he was told, ‘look, we might not be able to do everything you want.
Kudus admission
Arsenal and Chelsea have been sent a major Mohammed Kudus transfer update by Ajax sporting director Sven Mislintat.
“There are clubs that have informally enquired about him,” he told Ajax Life, via Metro. “I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world. Perhaps the interest is not as serious as everyone thinks.”
Speaking to Aglemeen Dagblad, he added: “There is no fixed deadline, but there are agreements we must have to get replacements if we have not already done so proactively.
“The best thing for if Kudus and (Edson) Alvarez stay, then we keep two top players. But it is also possible that one goes, or both.” Kudus’ current price tag stands at £40million but the former Arsenal head of recruitment has hinted the Dutch club’s valuation may increase as the summer window elapses.
“It is important for us that the relationship with the players remains good. This can be done by being transparent and applying good principles. As we get closer to the deadline, the transfer fee, for example, goes up.”
Potential Dembele impact
Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain transfer could have a impact on Arsenal’s plans
The French international looks to be set to make the move to Parc des Princes.
Lavia update
Arsenal are not in the race to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on Twitter, Romano said: “Arsenal are not active in Romeo Lavia race now as has good chances to stay.
“#AFC Saudi clubs approached Gunners days ago, Juventus called in June but never close to €40/45m package requested by Arsenal. Huge bid or Thomas stays. Arteta, happy with him.”
