Leicester City have confirmed the exit of defender Timothy Castagne, who has joined Fulham on a permanent deal.

The transfer brings to an end a three-year spell at the King Power Stadium for the Belgium international. He has joined the Cottagers for an undisclosed fee, but it is understood that City are getting a fee that could rise to £15 million.

Castagne was one of the players who was expected to leave the club before the deadline following relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season. The 27-year-old returned to the bench for Saturday’s clash against Rotherham after being left out of the squad for the previous two Championship games.

The full-back made an instant impression at City, scoring on his debut against West Bromwich Albion in 2020. He went on to play a further 111 times for the club, with appearances coming in the Europa League and Europa Conference League.

Castagne also played the full 90 minutes of the FA Cup final against Chelsea in 2021. He now returns to the Premier League with Fulham, who finished last season in 10th place in the table.

He has signed a deal at Craven Cottage until 2027, with a further option to extend for a further year. It is unlikely that Castagne will be eligible for Fulham’s Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham tonight (Tuesday), but he could make his debut at the Etihad Stadium when Fulham take on Man City on Saturday afternoon.
