Goalkeeper Brad Collins, centre-halves Joel Latibeaudiere from Swansea and Bobby Thomas, Milan van Ewijk, and striker Haji Wright arrived at the CBS Arena for a club record sum of £7.7 million from Turkish side Antalyaspor.
The club have also added two loans in centre-back Luis Binks from Bologna and attacking midfielder Yasin Ayari from Brighton.
The Barnsley Chronicle report the Tykes have turned down several bids for Kitching from Coventry throughout the summer and want in excess of £5m for the 23-year-old.
Head coach Neill Collins said: “We have very good players. When you have that, there is interest from higher up – it’s a good situation to be in. The club has expectations that need to be met. If not, they will be part of our plans.”
