Free agent Axel Tuanzebe ‘remains in discussions’ with Ipswich Town, reports TWTD, with the released former Manchester United man having trained with the squad.
Tuanzebe, 25, is a free agent after being let go by Manchester United at the end of last season.
He’s been linked 56with a number of clubs over the course of the summer, including Championship new boys Ipswich Town.
But Tuanzebe has more recently been linked with a move to Real Betis. TWTD though say that the Englishman remains in talks with Ipswich Town, and remains in the local area as he weighs up his next move.
The same report adds that The Tractor Boys have ‘continued discussions’ with Tuanzebe this week and that the player has trained with the Championship side too.
Tuanzebe spent time on loan at Stoke City last season, but injury limited him to just four appearances in the Championship; to date, Tuanzebe has 129 career appearances his name with 34 of those coming in the Championship, after a previous spell with Aston Villa in the second tier.
A good signing?
Tuanzebe certainly brings a degree of quality and also depth to the Ipswich back-line should he sign.
But Kieran McKenna will be worried about his current fitness and his injury record too with Tuanzebe having been prone to injury in the past.
At Stoke, he showed in his few appearances that he is a player who can perform at Championship level, but staying fit and injury-free is the challenge for Tuanzebe
There’s obviously risk involved with signing any free agent at this stage of the season, but Tuanzebe looks like a good potential signing for the Tractor Boys.
