Everton could now be days away from Youssef Chermiti transfer amid new Thursday development

Everton could now be days away from sealing their long-awaited striker transfer in Youssef Chermiti with the Blues determined to unveil the signing on 5 August.

According to Portuguese outlet Correio de Manha, writing on Thursday (3 August), the Sporting youngster is set to undergo his medical ahead of his move to Goodison Park in the next 24 hours.

It said the club hoped to have the 19-year-old in place ahead of the game against his potential former club Sporting at the weekend on Saturday (5 August), however, it is believed that Chermiti as rejected the Toffees’ first salary offer.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola also reported on Thursday that both parties could yet find an agreement to accelerate the transfer in the coming hours, to ensure Chermiti is announced on Saturday, with the Blues determined to get the deal done.

Everton are hopeful of the player undergoing a medical this weekend (Correio de Manha, 3 August), and A Bola reported that there could be news on the deal today (3 August) that could accelerate the deal.

Another Portuguese outlet O Jogo reported on 1 August that Sean Dyche had urged club officials to make an effort to sign the Sporting youngster, with the club targeting several striker targets for months.

But, it certainly seems as if the Blues are now set to seal his signature in the coming days, with an agreement on personal terms now close and his medical planned for Saturday (5 August).

Who knows, following these developments on Thursday (5 August), the latest that Everton could officially announce Chermiti is on Sunday 6 August, with the Premier League campaign just over a week away.

Snapping up Chermiti for a fee of around £12.8million when his release clause at the Portuguese outfit is said to be around £69m is absolutely excellent business from Everton.

It’s been a frustrating summer for the club and its fans with so many attacking targets passing them by, including the likes of Malian international wonderkid El Bilal Toure, and Leeds United’s Rodrigo and now Wilfried Gnonto seemingly rejecting moves to Goodison Park this summer.

News of Everton advancing for Chermiti’s signature will have certainly been a welcoming sight for the Goodison Park faithful and given the 19-year-old’s current abilities and burgeoning potential, this is a transfer the fans should be hugely anticipating.

Chermiti is no small talent. The 19-year-old enjoyed a superb breakout campaign for Sporting last season and has picked up the reputation of becoming one of Europe’s most exciting attacking prospects.

Possessing tremendous technical qualities, bullish attributes, speed, and a maturity in his game that belies his tender years, Chermiti was always set to achieve his Premier League before long and it is mightily impressive that Everton have stolen a march for his services.

If Dyche can acquire another more senior striker to go alongside Chermiti then it would be a successful attacking recruitment from Everton so far this summer. And the Toffees could now just be days away from completing signing number three.
