Several Spurs players now love playing with 25-year-old; he’s noticeably matured under Postecoglou
Tottenham Hotspur’s defenders have all been reassured by the presence of Cristian Romero, who has matured considerably since being promoted by Ange Postecoglou.
According to a story from The Athletic, there is a sense that the Argentinian is more involved with the team than he has ever been.
Cristian Romero has made an outstanding start to the season. Of course, the quality he possesses has never been in doubt. But there did appear to be a feeling that Tottenham fans would not have minded seeing him sold after last season.
Romero performed abysmally in comparison to his debut season at North London. And, given how good he was for Argentina, there was a sense of disappointment that he couldn’t reproduce it for Tottenham.
Tottenham defenders enjoy playing with Romero.
However, the arrival of Ange Postecoglou appears to have altered Romero’s fortunes significantly. Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has elevated the 25-year-old to co-vice-captain alongside James Maddison.
And what appeared to be a risk has turned out to be a brilliant move. According to The Athletic, Romero has stepped up to the plate admirably.
And as a defender, he is no longer a liability. According to the Athletic, Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie are all relieved to be playing alongside Romero. The quartet is confident that he will protect them.
It is one of Tottenham’s biggest success stories after an incredible start to the season. It’s amazing to imagine that Vicario, van de Ven, and Udogie had never played in the Premier League before this season.
Meanwhile, Pedro Porro had struggled for much of his first few months with the club. So it says a lot that they have played so well together over the last few weeks.
And clearly, many would put that down to the leadership and quality of Cristian Romero.
