West Ham could miss key player for Liverpool test

Jarrod Bowen is a serious worry for the trip to Liverpool this weekend after contracting an unknown virus.

The England hopeful has been in fantastic form for West Ham this season, scoring three goals and contributing one assist in his opening five outings.

However, at his pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime, David Moyes conceded that the forward was a serious doubt for the next Anfield test.

That is due to Bowen contracting an illness earlier this week, which prevented him from playing in West Ham’s 3-1 Europa League triumph over Backs Topola in Stratford on Thursday evening.

“Jarrod has had a virus, and we’ll see how he is for the weekend,” Moyes admitted when questioned about his injured or previously unavailable players.

Aside from that, the manager has almost a full squad to pick from for the Liverpool game, with defender (and Liverpool fan) Aaron Cresswell his only uncertainty.

“The others, I think we seem to be okay,” he continued. “Aaron had to leave with a hamstring injury, so we’ll check him out – but other than that, we’re probably about to go.”

We’ll have more for you from Moyes’ press conference shortly.
