In the aftermath of UFC Tampa, nearly two dozen fighters have received medical suspensions from the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation (FDBPR), including former title contender Colby Covington.
Covington, who faced off against welterweight powerhouse Joaquin Buckley, suffered a brutal TKO loss after a fierce exchange left him with a significant laceration above his eye. Despite expressing frustration with the stoppage, Covington will be required to undergo additional medical evaluations before returning to the octagon.
Other notable fighters facing suspensions include Cub Swanson and Manel Kape, both of whom will need medical clearance before competing again. In contrast, Buckley, who secured the emphatic victory, avoided a suspension and walked away from the event unscathed.
Stay tuned as more details emerge regarding UFC Tampa’s medical suspensions and the futures of these fighters.
