‘All Good’: Lions Not Afraid of Road Playoff Game

Lions confident if they play their style, they can win anywhere.

The Detroit Lions are vying for the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.

Despite not adding any defensive talent at the trade deadline, Detroit’s front office and coaching staff are confident that if the roster meets expectations and plays “Lions” football, the team can have success.

While playing home playoff games at Ford Field would be quite advantageous, head coach Dan Campbell is confident the team can go out on the road, even in cold weather stadiums outdoors and compete at a high level.

“Feel really good,” said Campbell. “As long as we play our style of game, we play with our identity, we take care of the football, I feel really good on the road, weather. All good.”

Evaluating first half of 2023 season

Last season, Detroit was sitting with a losing record at the bye week.

This season, Campbell and Co. will do their evaluations on a football team that has a record of 6-2.

When asked, Detroit’s third-year head coach indicated his evaluation process during the bye week will not change significantly.

“I think it’s the same process,” said Campbell. “I mean, we were same thing last year, now it’s different. We’re going in and we had lost a few in a row, but you’re still going through looking at yourself. What are we, really? And at that point, you’re turning the ball over a lot. If we don’t turn them over, what do we look like? What does our team look like? What do we do well? So, I think it’s still the same process.

“And more importantly, you want to know what you do well, but you also want to know what are the opponents — when they look at us, what do they think we do well? What are they seeing? What are our weaknesses? And I think that’s where you really get the benefit of it.”
