No. 4 College Basketball Recruit Turns Heads With New Post on Wednesday
Tennessee basketball’s momentum from a 30-8 season and an Elite Eight berth just got another jolt.
On Sunday, the No. 4 college basketball recruit in the 2025 class, Nate Ament, officially committed to Tennessee.
Ament chose the Volunteers over several other elite programs, including Duke, Kentucky, Notre Dame, and Arkansas.
Adding to the excitement, SLAM magazine spotlighted the Vols’ newest star on Wednesday through their social media channels.
SLAM’s Instagram feature showed Ament posting with a Spalding basketball under the caption, “Every. Single. Day. Nate Ament is ALWAYS BUILDING and that’s why he’s a five-star in the class of 2025. @spalding”
At 6-foot-9, Ament arrives as Tennessee’s highest-rated recruit ever and the seventh five-star signee under head coach Rick Barnes.
During his junior season at Highland School in Virginia, Ament averaged 19 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 3.7 assists per game.
As a senior, he guided the Hawks to a 38-5 record and the VISAA Division I state championship.
In 2025, Ament earned McDonald’s All-American honors.
Tennessee’s 2024-25 squad ranked fifth in the final AP poll, paced by a top-10 defense that allowed just 63.1 points per game.
With perimeter departures like Zakai Zeigler and Chaz Lanier, the Vols needed elite wing talent.
Ament fills that gap and instantly elevates their outlook for 2026.
By adding Ament, Tennessee’s 2025 class climbed from No. 42 to No. 9 nationally, giving the Vols one of the SEC’s fiercest incoming groups.
Barnes lauded Ament’s multifaceted game, his size, shooting touch and defensive upside, as the precise boost Tennessee sought.
Upon the release of the post with SLAM, some fans took to social media to share their thoughts.
“Go Vols,” said one fan.
“Love it,” said another fan.
“Keep it Nate. No limits, no ceiling, no comp,” mentioned another fan.
“Wow him,” commented one fan.
“Role model fr,” said one fan.
“Keep shaning,” said another fan.
