Hammer West Ham blow as Michail Antonio suffers suspected hamstring injury on international duty

Michail Antonio lasted just 21 minutes for Jamaica during their clash with Canada today, and the prognosis does not look good for the West Ham attacker, after he left the field with an injury.

One Football claim that the Hammers star’s injury is a suspected hamstring problem, although the extent of the issue is not yet known.

The 33-year-old is a key player for David Moyes, although he has been in really poor form this season, and recent reports suggest that he could be sold in January.

That said, he’s still vital to the Scot’s system, so any kind of serious injury suffered by Antonio will be a big blow for us.

And it seems as though the Jamaica international could be set for a spell on the sidelines…

Micky hobbled off the pitch not even a quarter of the way into his country’s clash with Canada today.

It’s an injury problem that Moyes could really do without, with a run of really important games coming up over the next month or so.

I will be the first to admit that Antonio shouldn’t be anywhere near the West Ham starting XI right now.

And in fairness to Moyes, he dropped the former Nottingham Forest man for our last two games.

However, he can still be an extremely useful impact sub and when he’s on form, he really is unplayable.

Michail Antonio has been a fine servant for West Ham over the past eight years, although he has endured his fair share of injury problems throughout that time.

I’m just hoping that this latest injury isn’t that serious, and that he won’t miss too many games as a result of his potential hamstring problem, if any.

Whilst he can be incredibly frustrating at times, he’s still an important part of Moyes’s squad. And losing him for a lengthy period of time will really hurt us.
