BREAKING NEWS: Jamie Elliott Commits to Collingwood Football Club with New Two-Year Deal

In a major boost to Collingwood’s 2025 AFL campaign, star forward Jamie Elliott has officially signed a new two-year contract extension, recommitting his future to the Magpies until the end of the 2027 season. The announcement, made by the club early Friday morning, was met with excitement by fans and teammates alike, as one of the club’s most dynamic and beloved players reaffirmed his loyalty to the black and white.

Elliott, 32, has been a cornerstone of the Magpies’ forward line for over a decade. Renowned for his high-flying marks, clutch goal sense, and fierce competitiveness, he has earned a reputation as one of the most electrifying small forwards in the AFL. His recommitment not only stabilizes Collingwood’s forward structure but also injects a renewed sense of leadership and experience into the squad.

“It’s home,” Elliott said in a heartfelt statement. “Collingwood has been everything to me since I first walked through the doors. The support from the fans, the club, and my teammates means the world. I’m proud to keep wearing the black and white jumper and to keep fighting for success with this group.”

Elliott’s career has been a mix of thrilling highs and challenging lows. After being drafted from Murray Bushrangers in 2011, he made his debut in 2012 and quickly became a crowd favorite. Despite enduring several injury setbacks over the years—including significant back, hamstring, and ankle issues—Elliott has always displayed remarkable resilience and professionalism. His return to top form in recent seasons has been nothing short of inspirational.

Collingwood’s General Manager of Football, Graham Wright, praised Elliott’s dedication and influence within the club.

“Jamie is a true professional and a leader within our group,” Wright said. “His talent is obvious, but it’s his attitude, character, and commitment that really set him apart. He’s overcome more than most players have to face in a career, and he’s come out stronger every time. We’re thrilled he’ll be part of our club for at least two more years.”

The announcement comes at a time when Collingwood is looking to retool and push for premiership contention once again. After a rollercoaster 2024 season, the club has made several key list changes, and Elliott’s retention is a crucial piece of that puzzle. Alongside fellow veterans like Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom, and Darcy Moore, Elliott’s experience is seen as vital for the development of emerging forwards such as Joe Richards and Harvey Harrison.

Coach Craig McRae, who has worked closely with Elliott since taking the reins in 2022, also expressed his delight.

“Jamie brings so much more than just goals to this team,” McRae said. “His work ethic, his voice on the field, and the way he mentors younger players—it’s all first-class. Having him locked in for another two years helps us build continuity and sets the tone for the type of culture we’re continuing to create.”

Elliott has played 205 games for Collingwood and kicked 270 goals as of Round 17, 2025. Among his career highlights is the unforgettable match-winning goal against Essendon on ANZAC Day 2022, a moment that has since become iconic in Magpies folklore.

As the club eyes a strong finish to the 2025 season, the recommitment of a figure as influential as Jamie Elliott sends a powerful message: Collingwood is not just building for the future—they’re investing in players who have bled for the jumper and are determined to deliver more success.

With Elliott on board until 2027, Magpie fans have every reason to believe the best may still be yet to come.
