Powerful Pies return to winners list against gallant Tigers

Collingwood breaks a run of two losses in cold and wet conditions at the MCG.

COLLINGWOOD has returned to the winners list, and the top of the ladder, with a 13.15 (93) to 8.9 (57) win against Richmond in wet and slippery conditions at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

The result also broke a short run of success for the Tigers after consecutive wins against fellow strugglers Essendon and West Coast, but their effort against the ladder leaders couldn’t be questioned in trying conditions.

The Magpies led throughout and always looked a class above their young opponents, led by another stellar performance from Nick Daicos who was the leading ballwinner (42 disposals) and goalkicker (three) in the game.

Tom Mitchell was also back near his best as he builds on his return from injury.

Among a number of positives for Richmond was another strong performance from Tyler Sonsie who seems to be finding his feet at the highest level, as well as continued improvement from youngsters Taj Hotton, Jonty Faull and Tom Sims.
