We have informed the defender he won’t be offered a contract for 2026.
After 12 games and three years at our Club, we thank key defender Dean for his service to the black and white. While his time on field was limited, his impact within the Club went far beyond match day appearances. Dean leaves having contributed not only as a reliable squad member but also as a positive presence in the locker room and a mentor to emerging talent.
Dean first arrived at the Club with a reputation as a strong competitor and versatile key defender. His physicality, game sense, and ability to read the play gave our coaching staff important depth across the backline. In every game he played, Dean showcased his trademark resilience, willingness to put his body on the line, and commitment to playing his role for the team.
Though injuries and selection challenges restricted his opportunities at senior level, Dean never allowed setbacks to impact his dedication to the program. Week after week, he put in the work at training, in the gym, and during recovery sessions, embodying the values of professionalism and persistence. His approach set a standard for others to follow, proving that a footballer’s contribution to a Club extends well beyond what happens on match day.
Off the field, Dean made a genuine impact on his teammates and staff. Known for his approachable nature and positive attitude, he built strong bonds within the playing group and was often described as a supportive and uplifting presence. He took time to guide younger players, particularly those learning the art of defensive craft, offering advice and encouragement whenever it was needed.
His influence reached further into the community as well. Dean consistently volunteered his time for Club initiatives, junior clinics, and supporter events. He understood the importance of connecting with fans and inspiring the next generation of footballers. For many young supporters, meeting Dean was a highlight of their connection to the Club, and those interactions reflect his generosity and humility.
In modern football, every list spot is valuable, and not every player gets the chance to play week in, week out at the highest level. Yet Dean’s example shows the importance of squad players who prepare tirelessly, stay ready for their opportunity, and help drive standards behind the scenes. His 12 games will always remain part of our story, but his influence in maintaining culture and standards will be remembered just as fondly.
As Dean departs, we recognise the sacrifices he has made during his journey with us. Balancing the demands of professional sport with personal life is no easy task, yet he embraced it with determination. While his path now takes him away from our Club, we have no doubt that the qualities he demonstrated here—resilience, leadership, and loyalty—will serve him well in his next chapter.
On behalf of everyone at the Club—players, coaches, staff, and supporters—we extend our gratitude to Dean. We thank him for his commitment, his service, and the role he played in our journey over the past three years. We wish him every success for the future, both on and off the field.
