MIAMI — There was plenty of potential at the Under Armour Next camp at Ives Estate Park on Sunday, and prospects discussed unofficial and formal trips.
Ben Hanks Jr., a top 100 cornerback from Miami Booker T. Washington, was among those in attendance.
Caitlin Clark continues to set new records. During a 93-83 triumph over No. 2 Ohio State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday, the Iowa women’s basketball superstar passed Pete Maravich for the NCAA all-time scoring record. Clark scored 35 points in the regular-season finale, giving him 3,685 career points, the most by any player in NCAA Division I basketball history.
“It’s really crazy to think about,” Clark admitted. “If you had told me that before my college career began, I would have laughed in your face and said, ‘No, you’re insane.’ I’ve always been able to score the ball, but I don’t believe people realize how many incredible players have come before me who have been able to score the ball at such a high rate and for such fantastic teams.
Clark stated last Thursday that she would enter the WNBA Draft despite having an additional year of eligibility.
“… I think when I was younger, I was just a young girl, and the reason I loved women’s basketball was because of her and how good the (Minnesota) Linx were, as well as a lot of other people, but I wanted to be just like her.” When I was younger, I expected to attend UConn, but that did not happen. The fact that she came here to surprise me was obviously very special. And I felt like that little girl again. It’s incredible how life can go full circle. I believe she is more than simply a brilliant basketball player; she is also a tremendous role model and a wonderful person.
