Dominik Szoboszlai, a midfielder for Liverpool, has reassured supporters that it “won’t take long” for him to recover from a hamstring injury. He was ruled out of this week’s Carabao Cup semifinal first leg.

Szoboszlai was forced off of the game just over an hour into Liverpool’s 4-2 Premier League victory over Newcastle United in 2024, the team’s first game of the new year.

The Hungarian will not be present when Fulham visits Anfield on Wednesday night for the Carabao Cup, and he was not present during the FA Cup third round victory over Arsenal on Sunday. However, he seems to be optimistic that his recuperation would be rather quick overall.

Szoboszlai said to M4 Sport, “I’m getting better,” on Monday night at an awards ceremony in his own country. “The first game of the year didn’t go as planned [for me], but it won’t take long and I’ll be back.”

Liverpool’s winter break in English football begins on Wednesday night, giving the Reds ten days off before their Premier League matchup with Bournemouth on January 21.

With manager Jurgen Klopp saying, “We will see,” following the injury on New Year’s Day, Szoboszlai’s chances of being available again by then are high. Hopefully, he will return after [Arsenal and Fulham].

Since joining Liverpool for £60 million from RB Leipzig, Szoboszlai has had a big impact on the team. He was a part of a much-needed midfield reconstruction at Anfield during the summer, when James Milner, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were all traded or released.

Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister—whose move from Brighton may potentially be for up to £55 million—joined the 23-year-old. Although Liverpool didn’t bolster any other part of the field, it appears to be functioning as
