Detroit Tigers agree to six-year contract with Colt Keith, guaranteeing $28,642,500, with three team options potentially worth $64 million over nine seasons and escalators potentially increasing to $82 million.

Keith, a left-handed third baseman and second baseman from Ohio, was a fifth-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. He hit.325 for Double-A Erie and.287 for Triple-A Toledo.

Keith receives a $2 million signing bonus, with salaries increasing in 2024, 2025, and ’29. Detroit offers $10 million options for 2030, $13 million options for 2031, and $15 million options for 2032.

The player’s salary for 2030-32 could increase by up to $3 million based on his 2024-29 accomplishments, including MVP, Silver Slugger, All-Star starter, and reserve status. His salary for 2031 and ’32 could also rise.
