The Pittsburgh Steelers have revealed hints during the pre-draft process about who they want with their first ron pick, hinting at who they will focus their attention on.

“Still Curtain” editor Tommy Jaggi found that only two prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class had a Pro Day visit from Mike Tomlin or Omar Khan, met with the team at the Combine, and received a top-30 visit.

Former Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims and former Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins are the two players mentioned.

Mims is a strong fit for the Steelers in round one, as he can upgrade tackle positions and help the team improve.

Dan Moore Jr. struggled as left tackle, allowing 55 pressures and 8 sacks in 535 pass blocking snaps, while Broderick Jones was better at right tackle but still not great.

Jones’ numbers are despite being a left tackle. If the Steelers draft Mims, he would become their right tackle, allowing Jones to move back to the left. However, Mims only started eight games at Georgia, so his lack of experience may be a concern.

Despite concerns about Mims, he appears to fit well on the team’s offensive line, and the Steelers have shown interest in him during the pre-draft process. Wiggins, on the other hand, appears a better fit.

The Steelers needed a speedy defensive back, and traded Diontae Johnson to the Panthers for Donte Jackson. Jackson, the team’s other corner, ran the 40 in 4.32 seconds, providing more speed. However, Wiggins, the NFL’s smallest corner at 173 pounds, could pose a challenge for a team known for its physicality on defense.

Wiggins is expected to be taken early in the draft, but the Steelers’ roster is already full of other significant needs.
