Staying or Going? What the Maple Leafs Should Do With Key Members of the Organization
Another Toronto Maple Leafs season has ended in disappointment after a Game 7 loss to the Boston Bruins.
It’s yet another first-round exit for the Leafs during the prime of three out of four of their “Core Four” superstars and, much like last season’s second-round disappointment against the Florida Panthers, this kind of failure will have consequences.
Last season it was GM Kyle Dubas who wasn’t brought back while coach Sheldon Keefe and all of the Leafs’ top players returned. With GM Brad Treliving now in charge of operations and MLSE ownership likely dissatisfied with another short stay in the playoffs, it’s time again to ask: Who is staying and who is going?
You know the candidates by now because everyone gets to know all the participants in a dramatic Toronto exit whether they want to or not. We’ll break down each of their cases and decide if they will get another crack at it again next season, do so elsewhere, or not at all.
Whether you love the Maple Leafs or love to hate the Maple Leafs, the arguments are compelling for everyone.
