YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Head Women’s Golf Josh Brewer announced the addition of sophomore Savannah De Bock (Ecaussinnes-d’enghien, Belgium/Institut de l’Enfant-Jésus – Lycée/Georgia) today, June 4. The duo were together at the University of Georgia during the 2023-24 campaign, as De Bock was selected to the Southeastern Conference SEC All-Freshman team.

“It is an exciting day for Eastern golf,” said Brewer. “Savannah is one of the top amateurs in the world. She and her family believe in our vision, which says a lot about our program. I am thankful for her belief in me as a coach. We have already spent one amazing semester together, now I look forward to many years together. Savannah came to Eastern to win as an individual and a team. We know the announcement today will only help bring in elite future Eagles.”

De Bock was a mid-year enrollee for the Bulldogs and finished the year ranked No. 103rd nationally. In eight tournaments at UGA, she compiled a 73.95 stroke average with six par-or-better tallies in 22 rounds. De Bock notched four top-20 performances, with a best effort of fifth place at the San Diego State Classic. For her efforts, she was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, Feb. 14.

Last fall, DeBock finished fourth at the World Junior Girls Championships and compiled a 3-0 record to help Europe win the Junior Solheim Cup before joining the Bulldogs in January.

De Bock established herself as one of the world’s top junior golfers, reaching as high as No. 35 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and No. 21 among European Amateurs when she joined the Georgia roster. Between 2018 and 2023, she participated in 98 WAGR events, achieving eight victories, 46 top-10 finishes, and 29 top-five finishes. Her standout victory at the 2022 European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, where she triumphed in a dramatic playoff against Charlotte Heath, marked her as only the second Belgian to win since 1988.

De Bock’s international experience is extensive, representing Belgium in numerous prestigious events. She played a crucial role in Europe’s victories in the PING Junior Solheim Cup in 2021 and 2023, with a perfect 3-0 record. Her performances at the World Junior Girls Championship were also notable, securing fourth and fifth places in 2023 and 2022, respectively. Additionally, she competed in the World Amateur Team Championships and five consecutive European Girls’ Team Championships from 2019-23, where she achieved a best stroke play finish of ninth in 2022 and an impressive match play record of 8-3-4.

Her individual achievements further underscore her talent and consistency. In 2023, she qualified for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, where she tied for 63rd, and finished runner-up at the Spanish Ladies International Amateur. Her 2022 victories included the European Ladies’ Amateur, Belgian International Amateur, and King’s Prize tournaments. In 2021, she won the Belgian National Junior and Belgian International Amateur, among other strong finishes. Even during the pandemic-affected 2020 season, De Bock excelled, securing a win at the Rigenee Junior Open. Her early career in 2019 saw her win the Omnium Classic of Belgium and achieve multiple runner-up finishes, establishing her as a formidable force in junior golf.
