Karl-Anthony Towns Sends Crystal Clear Message on Timberwolves Future Amid Trade Rumors

The Minnesota Timberwolves are facing an important offseason after being eliminated from the NBA Playoffs in the Western Conference Finals earlier this week.

The Timberwolves, after falling to the Dallas Mavericks in five games, now have a number of notable salary concerns to address over the next few months. Per Yahoo! Sports’ Sean Leahy, Minnesota currently has roughly $193 million in salary committed for next season.

That’s over the projected second luxury tax apron for the 2024-25 NBA season – meaning Minnesota, should no salary cuts be made, will be limited in trades and acquisitions next year.

As a result, and following an April report that suggested new potential Timberwolves owners Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez intend to slash salary, questions about the future of Minnesota big man Karl-Anthony Towns are swirling on social media.

After being eliminated from the postseason on Thursday, Towns addressed his Timberwolves future in a sit-down with the media.

“I’ve been here nine years and I would love for the tenure to keep going,” Towns said after Game 5, via Yahoo! Sports’ Sean Leahy. “I’m confident I’ll be able to be here with my brothers and continue what I love to do here at home.

“So that’s the plan. Nothing’s changed on my side. I love this city. I love this organization. I love this city. It’s given me my life, me and my family.”

Towns, 28, has spent his entire NBA career with Minnesota. He was selected by the Timberwolves first overall in the 2015 NBA Draft.
