Jannik Sinner receives private message from Charles Leclerc as F1 star plans challenge

Charles Leclerc has revealed that he sent Jannik Sinner a private message after the Italian became the new world No. 1.

The pair have a good relationship, with Sinner constantly in communication with the Ferrari driver.

And Leclerc has now challenged the Australian Open champion to a showdown in another sport, though he believes Sinner will have the upper hand.

Sinner has become the talk of the tennis world this season. The 22-year-old has already lifted three titles in 2024, including his first Grand Slam crown in Australia, and has only lost three matches so far this year.

Although he was unable to collect the French Open trophy, losing in the semi-final, he rose to the top of the rankings for the first time after the tournament. It’s no surprise that Sinner has started to rub shoulders with other elite sports stars, including Leclerc.

The Monegasque Formula One driver opened up on his friendship with Sinner, revealing that he reached out to the 22-year-old after he became No. 1 in the world last week.” With Jannik we write to each other often,” Leclerc told La Stampa.

“He sent me several messages when I won in Monte Carlo, a moment I had been waiting for years, and I of course wrote to him for No. 1.” Leclerc has now challenged Sinner to a game of padel.

He added: “So far we have only seen each other at a few award ceremonies but we agree that soon we will go and play padel. Although for me it will not be a great day.” Although the 26-year-old didn’t share what he told Sinner, he opened up on his message from the Italian after winning the Monaco Grand Prix.
