Newcastle United’s interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on hold after a transfer to Tyneside collapsed.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer, and there was confidence that an agreement would be reached with Everton. On top of that, it was reported that Calvert-Lewin was keen on the move.

However, Newcastle pulled the plug due to Everton’s asking price. With the Toffees unwilling to lower their demands, the Magpies decided to take their business elsewhere. In turn, that ended Yankuba Minteh’s hopes of signing for Everton.

It had been reported by the Times that Everton were looking to receive around £37million for Calvert-Lewin, which was obviously too much for Newcastle. They were hoping to knock the price down, but that is not going to happen in the immediate future.

While a deal could be revived later in the summer, it is off for now.
