Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green dropped a rather intriguing statement amid calls for his suspension. The veteran forward addressed the controversy surrounding his play during a Nov. 15 game against the Memphis Grizzlies. In the third quarter, after Green lost his balance and fell to the floor, he was caught holding Zach Edey’s right ankle in an attempt to slow him down. The foul has since been upgraded to a Flagrant 1 foul by the NBA. As a result, there have been plenty of calls for his suspension. Most recently, Stephen A. Smith claimed that a “lot of people in the league believe Draymond should be suspended.”
Now, in the the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show” with former NBA player Baron Davis, Green didn’t hold back when discussing the controversy and the calls to suspend him. According to the Warriors forward, people are only calling for his suspension to create buzz and help increase the NBA’s low ratings. “I’m playing too well, BD. And guess what, the ratings are low,” Green remarked. “We know Draymond’s name sparks buzz. We know that name carries weight.”

- Draymond Green’s remarks also came after Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins and Zach Edey publicly commented on the incident. Green criticized Jenkins for discussing the foul with the media, calling him a “softie” and accusing him of teaching the rookie to be emotional. “You’re setting him up to where Ja Morant’s gonna be protecting him,” Green added. Considering Green’s reputation for being a dirty player, more eyes will be on him as the season progresses.
