Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is in his age-40 season and currently in the 22nd year of his career in the NBA. That being said, it’s safe to assume that he doesn’t have much left in his professional career. While James is still playing at a high level and setting old-man records along the way, he is at the stage of his career where he is closer to retirement. Even James himself admitted recently that he is “not going to play that much longer, to be completely honest,” per CBS Sports. Acknowledging that James is in the final few years of his career, former Lakers star Metta Sandiford-Artest (formerly known as Ron Artest and Metta World Peace) reminded NBA fans to enjoy every LeBron moment moving forward.
“Let’s enjoy LeBron’s Career this season and until he retires,” Sandiford-Artest wrote on X.
The one-time All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year also shared his wish to see James play for at least three more years and complete the quarter of a century milestone. “Let’s wish him well into a 25 year career. Quarter Century,” he added.
James is currently tied with Vince Carter for the most seasons played in the NBA with 22. No player has ever reached 25 seasons in the league, so it would be an incredible feat of dominance and longevity if the 20-time All-Star is able to do it.
Regardless of James is able to do it or not, as what Metta Sandiford-Artest said, fans should simply enjoy and appreciate James’ career while he’s still playing.
