Kansas City Chiefs May Lose Cornerstone Player After Recent Statement (Quote)
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVII (58) on February 11th. The highly anticipated matchup will begin at 6:30pm EST in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year, the Chiefs were not always at their best. At one point, they were 9-6, and many people wrote them off as a Super Bowl candidate. However, five straight wins later, Kansas City finds itself in the biggest game of the year.
For years, the Chiefs have relied heavily on a few key individuals to drive their unprecedented success. One of these players is currently being pursued by a division opponent.
One Kansas City Chiefs Star Is Being Recruited By Bitter Rival
Maxx Crosby, a Las Vegas Raider and division rival, wants Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones to know that he would love playing together in Las Vegas in 2024:
“I mean, I would take Chris Jones in a heartbeat,” Crosby told Heavy Sports’ Austin Boyd on February 1. “I know Chris quite well. So, there are a lot of men available in free agency, including many great defensive tackles.
It would be fantastic. Chris Jones, for example, is one of the top players in the game, if not the best. I understand he’s a Chief, but at the end of the day, if you want to come to the Raiders, come on down. “I am all for it.”
Jones, who had held out for a new contract when the 2023 season began, was given a one-year deal worth up to $25 million by the Chiefs. Jones will become free.
It has been no secret for quite some time now that Jones wants to receive a long-term lucrative deal, however, the Chiefs have not been willing to commit to such type of contract just yet.
Earlier in the season, Jones sat down with Michael Smith and expressed how he feels about his future with the Chiefs:
“I never really take it personal, man,” Jones said. “You know, the business is the business aspect of it, man. It’s a tough business. It’s a cutthroat business. And you can’t get too involved with your feelings about it. This could, if we’re speaking truthfully, this could be my last year with the Chiefs.
Am I gonna hate the Kansas City Chiefs for it? Am I gonna down the Chiefs for it? No. I understand the business of it, you know what I mean? So, I can respect the reality of things, you know? So, I never put my feelings in the business part of it.”

“It ain’t,” Jones said. “Because, hypothetically speaking, if this is my last year, I’ve given this organization everything I have. I have exhausted everything, so if this is my last year, I’m super thankful. Hopefully it’s not, but if it is, I’m super grateful for the Chiefs organization and I’ve poured everything into this.”
