Hightower was taken twenty-fifth overall in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He appeared in 117 games for the Patriots team. In 2016, he was named second-team All-Pro and made two Pro Bowl appearances.

According to PFT, he recorded 569 tackles, 43 tackles for loss, 67 quarterback hits, five fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles.

You have a guy like [defensive coordinator] DeMarcus Covington, who started on offense, moved to defense, quality control, and now he’s coaching linebackers without the linebacker tag. He’s heading to the front, but he’s very familiar with the various position groups.

Continuing, “Also, I would say he really helped me with the behind-the-scenes stuff — drawing the cards, setting up practice, and so on. Steve [Belichick] also helped me, but I spent a lot of time with DC and feel confident in what he taught me. So, Hightower should do the same thing.”
