New York Giants Fans React to Saquon Barkley Not Getting Franchise Tagged

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the New York Giants will not franchise tag running back Saquon Barkley for the second straight season. Barkley was on the Giants’ franchise tag last season and is now set to enter the NFL free agent market.
He was selected second overall by the Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Penn State. Barkley carried for 962 yards on 247 carries last season, scoring six touchdowns and averaged 3.9 yards per carry. He also grabbed 41 receptions for 280 yards and four touchdowns, with an average of 6.8 yards per catch.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley Addresses Looming Free Agency After Disappointing Season

Saquon Barkley is 27 years old. Many people believed that the Giants should have compensated him last offseason rather than quarterback Daniel Jones. Barkley’s time in a Giants uniform could be coming to an end as he enters the free-agent market.

Teams such as the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Chargers will be very interested in bringing him in. It will also be fascinating to see what type of contract he will receive from them rather than the New York Giants.

It would also come as a surprise if they brought him back. It looks that both franchises desire to move in distinct directions.
