Detroit Tigers have agreed to a six-year contract with Colt Keith, a 22-year-old with no major league experience, ensuring a guaranteed $28,642,500 salary. The deal includes three team options potentially worth $64 million over nine seasons, with escalators potentially increasing it to $82 million.

Keith, a Double-A Erie player, was promoted to Triple-A Toledo and batted.287 in 67 games. He received a $2 million signing bonus, with salary increases in 2024, 2025, and 2029. Detroit also offers options for 2030, 2031, and 2032.

The player’s salary for 2030-32 could increase by up to $3 million based on his 2024-29 accomplishments, including MVP, Silver Slugger, All-Star starter, and reserve status. His salary for 2031 and ’32 could also rise.
