David Moyes confirmed that West Ham star Angelo Ogbonna is set to undergo surgery on his damaged ACL, following rumors of a serious knee injury.

Ogbonna’s initial performance after sustaining an injury suggests he may not require surgery and recover quicker than most, despite the injury’s long-term potential.

West Ham boss David Moyes confirmed that Angelo Ogbonna, an Italian fan favorite, will undergo surgery on an injury, likely causing him to miss the rest of the season, despite his outstanding performances.

“I don’t think there is a quick return. It will be hard for Angelo to be back this season.”

The news comes as a big blow as the Hammers are fighting on all fronts.

West Ham go into the game against Wolves knowing a win could put them level on points with leaders Chelsea.

West Ham, led by Moyes, is nearing the Carabao Cup semi-finals and Europa League last 16, thanks to their exceptional partnership between Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

Craig Dawson or Issa Diop will need to step up until January, as Virgil van Dijk missed the 2020-21 season due to an ACL injury.

Leicester’s James Justin is set to return to action after ACL damage, while Hammers’ co-owner David Sullivan confirms Ogbonna will be offered a new contract.
