Detroit’s East Jefferson Avenue residential development has surpassed $1 billion in affordable housing investments since 2019, with 71 projects built or under construction in the past five years, totaling $1,009,177,000 in development costs.

Duggan emphasized America’s leadership in appreciation and home values, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a ready supply of affordable housing in a changing world.

New Detroit developments, including the East Jefferson $45 million riverfront development, will provide quality, affordable housing to tens of thousands of residents in 46 neighborhoods, with 20 units available for those earning 30% or less of the area’s median income.

Detroit’s 71 housing projects, ranging from 30% to 120% AMI, demonstrate housing diversity across the city, according to city council surveys.

Durhall highlighted the significant investment in the city’s Affordable Housing and Preservation Fund, which was approved as part of the city’s $2.76 billion 2025 budget.

Century Partners’ David Alade has begun construction on The Claire, a 1920s apartment building redevelopment in Clairmount, Detroit. The project, part of a larger revitalization effort in nearby neighborhoods, will offer 27 units with rent ranging from 50 to 80 percent of the median income, marking a significant step towards Detroit’s 2014 affordable housing goal.
