Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel regrets the choice to keep LB Bradley Chubb on the field late in blowout loss.

BALTIMORE (AP)— The Miami Dolphins were in the waning minutes of a particularly unpleasant defeat on Sunday when things went from bad to worse.

The first-string defense had already been humiliated and defeated by the Baltimore Ravens when standout linebacker Bradley Chubb collapsed to the ground, flat on his back and unable to move due to a knee injury. A while later, the team’s bag leader was loaded onto a cart and driven into the tunnel.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel bemoaned his choice to keep Chubb on the field in the final minutes of the 56-19 loss.

“In hindsight, I would have absolutely not wanted him out there if I knew he was going to get hurt, for sure,” McDaniel stated. “That is a well-known aspect of the profession, and I completely understand it. It doesn’t appear very smart at all.”

While it is doubtful that the sixth-year pro will return to action this season, McDaniel grimaced and expressed hope for a positive diagnosis.
