BREAKING: Iowa reportedly confirm two vital additions to bolster squad depth
Northwestern transfers quarterback and wide receiver have committed to the University of Iowa football team, as announced on Thursday by Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz. Both athletes will have two years of eligibility with the Hawkeyes.
Sullivan, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 225 pounds, completed 63 out of 99 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns, and rushed 75 times for 160 yards and two touchdowns over eight games in 2023.
The Davison, Michigan native played in five games in 2022, completing 71 out of 96 passes with four touchdowns while rushing 54 times for 97 yards. His 114 passing yards against Wisconsin were the most by a Northwestern quarterback in their collegiate debut since Brett Basanez’s 158 yards against Air Force in 2002. In his first career start against Maryland, Sullivan completed 18 out of 24 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown, along with 53 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
During his time at Davison High School, Sullivan was ranked as the 28th-best pro-style quarterback nationally and the 23rd-best player in Michigan in 2020. He led his team to a 21-2 record as the starting quarterback, throwing for 3,044 yards and 33 touchdowns. He guided his team to the Michigan Division I state championship as a junior, completing 14 out of 19 passes for 290 yards and a touchdown in the state title game at Ford Field. An Honor Roll student, Sullivan was recognized as Academic All-State in football, basketball, and track.
Jacob Gill, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds, recorded 17 receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns over his three years with Northwestern. His performance was impacted by an injury last season, limiting him to just four games.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native played in all 12 games during his freshman and sophomore years. In 2022, he made catches in seven games, accumulating 99 yards and one touchdown. In 2021, Gill had eight receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown.
At Cardinal Gibbons High School, Gill set records for receptions, receiving touchdowns, and receiving yards. As a junior, he had 62 receptions for 806 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a two-time first-team All-North Carolina Cap 7 Conference and first-team All-North Carolina 4A selection. A multi-sport athlete who also participated in track, Gill was an Honor Roll student.
