West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who is on loan from Manchester City, risks suffering a long-term injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that patience is key for the England international in the off season to get out of the vicious cycle.

Should the 28-year-old aggravate his current injury, it can impact his career and overall development as a player.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:

My advice would be to take the summer to really heal his injury and rebuild his fitness levels and that’s what he’s likely to do.

You need time and patience to get out of these vicious cycles.

“I understand he wanted to push to play for EURO 24 but trying to do that when coming off injuries and not much playing time over the past couple of seasons is very difficult.

He would want to avoid aggravating it as It would lead to long-term injuries which are very serious for his overall development and the rest of his career

Kalvin Phillips failed to cut it at West Ham United

Phillips was someone David Moyes liked and wanted for a while but when it did happen, the timing was completely off.

From his first game, the English midfielder appeared to struggle with the intensity of the game and another injury sealed his future at the London Stadium.

Hopefully, he will take a few months to focus on his rehabilitation before he can aim to reach the levels of performance he showcased at Leeds United.

In other West Ham news, the wife of a Hammers player has potentially stirred up a controversy with her recent comments on social media accusing the club of bias.
