Student Bonfire organizers share more details about this year’s burn

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Plans continue for what is expected to be a large turnout at this year’s Student Bonfire before the Aggies host the UT Longhorns this fall at Kyle Field on Saturday, November 30.

Student Bonfire this year is planned for Friday, November 29 with gates opening at noon and torches lit at 8:40 p.m.

The confirmation of this year’s Student Bonfire, which is fully and independently student-organized, student-led, and student-executed off campus, comes a day after Texas A&M President Mark Welsh said the bonfire would not be moved back to campus, despite the recommendation of a rivalry committee formed last year with the task of how to commemorate the return of the University of Texas to the SEC.

“We look forward to another season in 2024. We understand that there will be new and unique challenges, including an especially large attendance at Burn, and we are preparing to meet these challenges,” said the statement shared by the Bonfire Board of Directors.

“As with every year, this will be possible with the support of motivated Aggies. Together, in 2024, we will ensure that the flame remains truly undying. We thank all those who support Bonfire, whose continued donations of time, equipment, and expertise make this and every season possible,” the group said.

The stack site is located on Old Hearne Road near West OSR Highway. More details of the event can be found here.

Burn will be live-streamed for free, as it has been since 2014, courtesy of TexAgs.com. For updates, information on participating in and supporting Bonfire, and a full season schedule as it becomes available, visit bonfire.ag.
