Three-star CB Caleb Chester commits to Texas

Official visit season has begun and that typically means commitment season isn’t too far behind.

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas coaching staff hosted their first round of official visitors over the weekend and today they began to see the fruits of their labor. Three star Fort Bend (TX) Marshall cornerback Caleb Chester was one of about a handful or so recruits to make an official visit last weekend and today he got the fireworks started by committing to the Longhorns.

Chester holds almost 40 reported offers and was scheduled to officially visit Arkansas and Texas A&M this month after seeing TCU last month and Texas last week. After concluding his trip to Texas, Chester felt like he had seen enough and became the first defensive back commitment for the Longhorn 2025 recruiting class.

Chester’s commitment brings the total to eleven thus far for the Longhorns in the 2025 recruiting cycle and they are currently ranked 18th in the country according to 247Sports.

With Sarkisian and company set to play host to more official visitors over the coming weeks, things figure to be pretty busy on the recruiting trail, as the staff tries to close out some big recruitments before heading into the season. If there is one thing we have learned about this staff during their time in Austin, it is that they know how to throw a proper official visit weekend and they know how to close. With that in mind, it would behoove you to keep your head on a swivel as the summer months begin to ramp up.

Chester is ranked as the 71st cornerback prospect in the country and is ranked 787th overall according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
