Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Academy players, Mitchell Woods, Fanafou Seve, Logan Spinks, Abby Aros and Waimarie Martin have been selected in the NSW Under 19’s Origin.
NSWRL announced the CABE NSW Under 19s Men and Westpac NSW Under 19s Women squads on Monday, with the double-header set to be played at Leichhardt Oval on Thursday June 20.
The men’s squad will come into camp on Friday 14 June and will be coached by True Blue and former Canterbury Captain, Andrew Ryan who has coached the NSW Under 19’s to back-to-back wins in 2022-2023.
The team features Bulldogs Halfback, Mitchell Woods, who captained the Bulldogs Harold Matthews Cup to a Premiership in 2023. Earlier this year, Woods captained the SG Ball Cup side to a grand final appearance and was named the UNE SG Ball player of the series for 2024.
Fanafou Seve was also announced to the team after proving to be a cornerstone in the Bulldogs SG Ball Cup forward pack. The talented front-rower has been playing in the Bulldogs Jersey Flegg side following a strong season in SG Ball which has seen him selected to start for NSW.
Fellow SG Ball Grand Finalist, Logan Spinks has also been named in the squad to represent NSW. Hailing from Tamworth, Spinks has come through the Bulldogs pathways, playing for the Greater Northern Tigers in the Laurie Daley Cup last year. The back-rower was a member of the 2023 Australian schoolboys team and was a standout in the Bulldogs SG Ball side this year.
The NSW Under 19s Women’s team will be coached by Kate Mullaly, who has previously acted as an assistant coach to Kylie Hilder for the NSW Sky Blues. The Women’s team will be aiming to reclaim the shield after a narrow loss last year and will also start camp on Friday 14 June.
Bulldogs Tarsha Gale Fullback Abby Aros has been selected in the NSW Under 19’s women’s squad. Aros was a standout in the Tarsha Gale Cup, scoring seven tries this season and playing a key role in leading the Bulldogs to the semi-final.
Hooker Waimarie Martin also earnt selection in the NSW Squad after a strong season in the Tarsha Gale Cup.
Thursday night’s games showcase the best rising talent in Rugby League with the women’s match set to kick-off at 5.45pm and the men’s match to follow at 7.45pm.
Both games will be shown by Fox League on Fox Sports, and 9Now, with the women’s match also to be shown on 9Gem, and the men’s match on Channel Nine.
